starting from scratch

By

Starting from scratch can take many forms. It might mean losing all your writings because the storage system filled up and deleted everything you ever created. Alternatively, it might signify moving away from your home country with just a suitcase in search of a better future, only to return to what you once called home, only to find that you never really came back. Relatives may have decided to give away your precious treasures, once cherished, to your children or others, leaving you with a sense of loss and nostalgia.

Ultimately, what defines us isn’t what we possess or create, but our core essence—the way we perceive the world and how the world perceives us. Everything around us responds to this unique energy, creating a connection that no one else can replicate. This inherent energy is what allows us to build relationships, form memories, and create an impression in the lives of those around us. It’s a reminder that our true worth lies not in material possessions but in our thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Starting from scratch doesn’t always refer to a physical place or entity. It signifies a willingness to leave behind the person we thought we were and embrace the transformation that life is guiding us toward. It doesn’t necessarily mean changing our appearance or the people we surround ourselves with; sometimes, it’s about seeing experiences through fresh eyes. It’s about waking up and choosing to understand those next to us from a new perspective—not the one we once forced, but one that feels right for this new chapter.

Engaging in this kind of transformation requires courage. It necessitates letting go of fears and insecurities that may have held us hostage for far too long. Starting from scratch allows us to recreate our narratives, making room for new stories that reflect our current selves. The challenge is in understanding that growth often comes from discomfort.

Starting from scratch is not a curse; it can be a blessing. It signifies that you are still alive, that your soul is still seeking answers and learning. And that, in itself, is always a victory. The journey of rediscovery may come with challenges, but it also opens up new avenues of creativity, thought, and connection. It invites us to explore and reinvent ourselves continually, leading to a richness in life that otherwise might be stunted by stagnation.

So yes, even though it’s all gone. Everything I have ever written, gone. My precious treasures. Gone. As much as it sucks, it made me realize that the treasures are not the writings themselves; the real treasure is within me, is my core. There resides the essence of who I am—the beliefs I’ve nurtured, the values I’ve held dear, and the wisdom I’ve gained through experience. That, I will always have. The essence of my journey remains intact, waiting to be explored and expressed anew as I navigate this world afresh.
